Tooth wear is a prevalent condition often requiring a combination of preventative and restorative treatment. Tooth wear poses a multifaceted challenge, with various factors such as attrition, abrasion, and erosion at play at the same time. This comprehensive program is designed to equip dental professionals with the knowledge and skills needed to effectively manage and restore dentitions compromised by wear, ensuring optimal oral health and function.

Throughout this course, participants will learn the complexities of diagnosing and evaluating tooth wear, gaining knowledge into its aetiology and progression. We will focus on the various aspects of treatment planning, emphasising a patient-centered approach to achieve functional, aesthetic, and long-lasting results. 

 

Key Course Objectives:

  • Master diagnosis of tooth wear, recognising contributing factors and assessing the extent of damage.
  • Understand preventative strategies for your patients to achieve long-term stability.
  • Develop individualised treatment plans for patients, considering patient-specific factors and objectives, and incorporating a multidisciplinary approach when necessary.
  • Acquire hands-on experience with a range of restorative techniques, including direct and indirect restorations, to effectively repair the dentition and enhance aesthetics. 
  • Understand the importance of balancing functional restoration with aesthetic outcomes, incorporating principles of smile design and color matching for patient satisfaction.
  • Long-term Maintenance: Develop strategies for long-term maintenance and monitoring of restored dentition, ensuring the sustained success of the restorative interventions.

 

Program Delivery

Dr RL Halili-Castillo obtained her degree in Doctor of Dental Medicine at the University of the East Manila Philippines. She has acquired extensive clinical experience in her own dental practice, where she was able to hone her management and clinical skills, providing a comprehensive range of dental services to her patients. She has also practiced at the Health Promotion Board School Dental Services of Singapore, giving emphasis on oral health care programs for school children. After spending four years in GC South East Asia, she recently joined GC Australasia armed with over fifteen years of experience in the dental industry both in clinical and business side. She is actively involved in training and education programs specialized in fibre technology, aesthetic and restorative dentistry across the region.

Dr Gidon Fixler completed his Masters of Dentistry at Latrobe University in 2017, graduating dux of his class. Gidon subsequently completed his Primary Examinations for the Royal Australian College of Dental Surgeons (RACDS) in 2018. Dr. Fixler developed his clinical skills in Private general practice in Ballarat and Melbourne before completing his specialist training in Prosthodontics at the University of Melbourne in 2023. Gidon enjoys all aspects of prosthodontics, however, he has a particular interest in digital removable and fixed prosthodontic workflows. 

Dr. Fixler currently works in Private specialist practice in Melbourne and Geelong. In addition, Gidon is a demonstrator in fixed prosthodontics at the University of Melbourne and Latrobe University. He is also a committee member for the Australian Prosthodontic Society (Victorian branch). 

A/Professor Subir Banerji completed an advanced course in Restorative Dentistry at The Eastman Dental Hospital, London and his Fellowship of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists. He gained his Masters in Clinical Dentistry (Prosthodontics) from the University of London and PhD from the University of London and the Statutes of Kings College London. He is also a fellow of the International College of Dentists. In addition to his Private Practice in London he is the Programme Director for the MSc in Aesthetic Dentistry which is delivered in a “blended learning format”, a Senior Post Graduate Tutor on the Master’s in Clinical Dentistry (fixed and removable Prosthodontics) programme and a former Senior Undergraduate Clinical Teacher at the Department of Primary Dental Care at King’s College London Dental Institute. He has conducted several Postgraduate and Master’s level courses in aesthetics, implants, composites, fixed and removable prosthodontics and occlusion in the UK, US, Europe, Australia, Hong Kong and India. He is also an examiner for both Undergraduate and Postgraduate programmes and also holds an Honorary Clinical (Associate Professor) position with the University of Melbourne.
