Course outline 


Module One: Future of Work Skills 
The first module will take you through the key future of work skills you’ll need to thrive when re-entering the workforce. 


Module Two: Applied Transferable Skills 
This second module will take you through how parenting skills are not only transferable but critical to your success in the workforce. 


Intended learning outcomes:

After completing this workshop, you should be able to:

   -Identify and evaluate key future of work skills 
   -Critically link your caregiving experiences to in-demand skills 
   -Apply this knowledge to build employment profiles to present to employers 
 

Who you will learn from  


Prof. Leah Ruppanner is a Professor of Sociology and Founding Director of the Future of Work Lab and the Gender Equity Initiative at the University of Melbourne. Funded by the Department of Education and Training (Victoria), the Lab directly focuses on how to create a more genderinclusive environment across work, family, and government. She is an expert on the intersections of gender, care, work, and policies. Professor Ruppanner was identified as the Best-in-Field Gender Scholar for 2022 and 2023. Further, Leah has led research projects for the Commission for Gender Equality in the Public Sector on carers’ experiences and is undertaking an Evidence Review of the Barriers to Equal Sharing of Care in Australia funded by Minderoo.

Leah has a track record of developing and delivering successful MicroCerts and training programs. Including, the Melbourne MicroCert series, The Future of Women at Work, which examines how artificial intelligence is affecting women and shaping their roles in the workplace. Leah has translated her research findings to half-day Masterclasses delivered to employees and employers from a range of industry and government partners including, ANZSOG, Australian Council for Educational Research, Queensland Public Service and, Asian Development Bank. Taking a collaborative approach, learning content and delivery format is tailored to the client’s needs.


Workload and delivery 


The certificate mixes several learning styles:  
  -Short online modules  
  -Asynchronous reflections and activities  
  -Self-led exploration  
  -Multimedia  


The course is run over 5 weeks and involves a total of approximately 14 hours: 
  -10 hrs self-guided learning 
  -4 hrs for assessment  


Assessment: 
  -1 x short quiz 
  -1 x written reflective submission
