3. Check-out using the same email as registered with KOALA. 

4. You should receive an email (within a few days) confirming your registration!

Registration Type and Rates

Accommodation for KOALA 2024 is kindly subsidized by the generosity of our sponsors. As a result, spaces are limited. Applicants from Melbourne institutions (e.g. University of Melbourne, Monash University, RMIT etc) will not receive accommodation by default. Instead, they will receive a discounted (Day Only) registration. 

The registration type you have been allocated will be indicated in your invitation email.

Further registration discounts are available to students who are affiliated with our Gold and Platinum Sponsors. Please review the following options to determine the registration path you can opt for:

 

Registration Type (Day Only)

  • Applicants from Melbourne institutions (e.g. University of Melbourne, Monash University, RMIT etc) should purchase this registration. They will receive discounted registration instead of receiving accommodation by default.

The Conference on Optics, Atoms, and Laser Applications (KOALA) is a student conference across the fields of lasers, optics and atoms! With a focus on academic discourse and emphasis on networking for industry careers, this is an affordable, inclusive, and supportive conference to get the most out of your studies. It will be an action-packed weeklong student conference filled with world-leading plenary speakers, industry and careers fair, IDEA discussion panels and much much more! 

The conference registration is an all-inclusive fee, covering all programmed conference activities and accommodation (for non-Melbournian students; Melbourne students may request for special consideration). It will also covers breakfast, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea & dinner for all full conference days. In other words, all meals from Monday's breakfast to Friday's lunch are included in the all-inclusive conference registration fee!

All policies and Terms of registration are adopted in consideration of and in the best interest of conference attendees, exhibitors, event co-sponsors and the conference host facilities. As a condition of registration, you agree to all the terms and policies contained herein, as well as all other reasonable policies promulgated by the KOALA committee. 

Code of Conduct:

It is important to the success of this conference that every attendee reads and abides by the KOALA 2024 (Code of Conduct). Conference participants found in violation of these rules may face strict action at the discretion of the conference organisers which may include immediate expulsion without eligibility for a refund. 

No Smoking Policy

For the comfort and health of humans, University of Melbourne is committed to a smoke-free campus. Therefore, smoking is not permitted anywhere on campus. 

Photographs/Video/Audio/Media Release:

You agree that:
1. KOALA may make use, copy, publish, make available, distribute, edit or modify any recording (video, audio, image or any media) of you, but only for the purposes of academic, promotion and marketing, reporting and journalism, and knowledge transfer (Permitted Purposes);
2. You are not entitled to any royalties, fees or other compensation in return for any utilisation of the media permitted by this release;
3. KOALA may distribute content to certain third parties involved in organising, hosting and funding the conference, including School of Physics, the UoM OPTICA and SPIE Student Chapter, OPTICA, SPIE and ARC TMOS. Some of the third parties (including OPTICA and SPIE) are located overseas and may make content and promotional media publicly available;
5. KOALA may ask for your permission to use any recording of you, and that you may decline, but that this release entitles KOALA to use the recording for allowable Permitted Purposes regardless.

Limitation of Liability

When participating in KOALA 2024 and all of its events, you shall bear all risk of injury, illness (including Covid 19 or other infection), death, property damage or other loss. You agree to release, hold harmless and forever discharge KOALA 2024 committee, team, successors and assigns from any and all damages, claims, demands, liabilities, and causes of action arising out of or relating in any way to your participation in KOALA 2024 and all of its events, including but not limited to the use of the School of Physics facilities and lodging facilities.

Unsecured Items Policy

All personal belongings are the sole responsibility of their owner, and that KOALA will not be held responsible for their safe keeping should they become lost or stolen. 

Cancellation and Refund Policy:

This conference registration is only intended to be purchased by invited student presenters. If you have not yet received an email about the status of your abstract submission, please contact us at registration@ionskoala.org.au

All registration sales are final and non-refundable.
