Autism Assessment Fundamentals and Co-Occurring Conditions 2nd and 3rd July 2026 (online): Other Professionals

What does the training include?
This online training aims to provide a comprehensive grounding in the complexities of autism assessment for children and adolescents. Following the training you should be able to identify autism in the clients you see and refer appropriately for further assessment.
This two-day workshop includes:
-Exploration of integrating clinical autism assessment with neuroaffirming practice principles
-Videos of two assessments: Preschool/School-Aged and Youth
-How to take a neurodevelopmental history
-Differential diagnosis and co-occurring mental health conditions
-Understanding language and social communication differences
-Understanding differences in sensory processing
-Formulation of complex cases
-Providing neuroaffirming assessment feedback to families
-Guidelines for report writing.
This workshop is a prerequisite for ADOS-2 and ADI-R training at Mindful.
Pre-reading materials will be sent 1-2 weeks prior to the workshop date.
Who is the training for?
Mental health clinicians working with children and adolescents, e.g. psychologists, psychiatrists, speech pathologists, occupational therapists, social workers, mental health nurses, paediatricians, advanced trainees in child & adolescent psychiatry, ICYMHS clinicians, headspace clinicians and paediatric fellows.

Who provides the training?
Multidisciplinary specialist autism and neurodevelopmental assessment teams from a range of Victorian Infant, Child and Youth Mental Health Services (ICYMHS) and lived and living perspectives.

Mindful's workshops are funded by the Victorian Government. Some workshop places are made available for private practice and interstate clinicians, but many of our courses are specifically designed to skill-up particular cohorts of the Victorian mental health workforce. Our training is only available to overseas based clinicians on a case-by-case basis. If you practice outside of Australia please email our team at mindful-asd@unimelb.edu.au to confirm your eligibility.
Cancellation and No Show Policy:
Registered participants who are unable to attend and notify us of this in writing prior to fourteen days before the workshop may either:
(1) cancel their registration and receive a refund of their payment minus administration fee of 20%;
(2) transfer their registration to another eligible participant (no fee);
(3) in some circumstances may be able to transfer their registration to an equivalent-cost autism workshop in the same calendar year, if space is available.
Cancellations with less than 14 days' notice are not refundable. If there is someone else in your workplace that you wish to transfer your registration to, this may be permitted.
