What is the ADI-R?
The ADI-R is a semi-structured diagnostic interview to assess behaviours related to autism. The ADI-R typically takes between 90 minutes to 3 hours. The course is designed to teach clinicians how to administer and code ADI-R with parents/carers of children and young people with suspected autism.

What does the training include?

During this two and a half day training, participants will:

-Learn about the underlying principles of the ADI-R
-Practice administration of the ADI-R in role play
-Watch a variety of video administrations of the ADI-R and practice coding
-Participate in the administration of the ADI-R with a volunteer parent/carer of child or young person with autism.
-Learn how to code the caregiver’s responses during the interview.
-Trainees will have the opportunity to conduct part of an ADI-R interview and receive feedback and coding advice.

Due to the intensive nature of this training the group is limited to 10 participants.

Pre-reading materials and video links will be provided and must be completed before commencement of the workshop. Participants will need a working webcam and microphone to participate.

Who is the training for?
Psychologists, speech pathologists, occupational therapists, paediatricians, and psychiatrists.

Who provides the training?
Psychologist Deborah Sweeney has been training clinicians in the use of the ADI-R and ADOS-2 for many years throughout Asia and the Pacific region. Deborah was previously working in autism research at Monash University and now works in private practice providing consultation for complex presentations of autism.

Our training is only available to overseas based clinicians on a case-by-case basis. If you practice outside of Australia please email our team at mindful-asd@unimelb.edu.au to confirm your eligibility.

(1) cancel their registration and receive a refund of their payment minus administration fee of 20%;

(2) transfer their registration to another eligible participant (no fee);

(3) in some circumstances may be able to transfer their registration to an equivalent-cost autism workshop in the same calendar year, if space is available.
